There are a variety of different ways a hurricane is caused. One of the things that helps a hurricane to occur is if the air and sea water is hot/humid. The hot water evaporates and makes hot air, because the air is moist it rises rapidly because the water is rising it then comes across cooler air higher up and the water vapour to condense and that causes storms and rain. The condensation also releases latent heat, (the energy released into or absorbed from the atmosphere during a stage shift) which warms the cool air above, causing it to rise and let the humid air come up from the ocean below. The hot air spiralling inward and upward also makes the Hurricane.
